FTC TEAM 13176: SPARK-O-MATIC TEAM SUMMARY
Spark-O-Matic Robotics is a new group of teens who want to make their start in building and understanding coding and robotics. We are a team of smart, creative, and enthusiastic students who are always open to new people and new experiences in technology.
Our goal is to understand coding and robotics. FIRST Tech Challenge robotics is our latest venture where we're learning all there is to know about designing, building and programming a robot to meet the current FIRST Tech Challenge game Relic Recovery. Our team is like a family.
We have an open door policy and welcome anyone with a genuine interest in what we are doing who is willing to make a commitment to participating on a regular basis. We have several dedicated mentors who are guiding us through our rookie season. They are Zale, Emmanuel and De’La. Our co-coaches are Marc Leffler and Teresa Lanum. We have also been mentored by Owen and Melea of FTC team 3486.

Hi, I'm in 10th Grade at Callaway High School. I most enjoy building the robot—seeing problems, finding mistakes and working to fix them. That allows me to improve the design. I also enjoy dancing at the competitions (very fun!). Outside of robotics, I enjoy listening to K-Pop and looking at Korean stuff. In addition, I'm also an anime fan. Check out my digital story on playing the piano, another one of my interests, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyL3Bzq2R-Y

I'm an 11th grader at Callaway High school. What I like about robotics is driving, programing and building the robot. I've always enjoyed putting things together. Robotics has given me the knowledge and I was actually able to do it. I like anime, being around people-plus learning new things. I play video games, Rainbow 6 Siege especially. I also have two paintball guns and all the stuff that goes with paintball. Check out a digital story I created with Zale that got shown at Crossroads Film Fest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV1fUFCWfIM

Hey, I'm in 12th grade at PennForster, an online school. I love to draw and trying new things. What I like most about robotics are the creative and collaborative aspects of it, and I'm looking forward to competing as part of FIRST Tech Challenge. Outside of robotics, I draw and illustrate digitally on a tablet. Also, I love working on animated videos and anime-style drawings. One of the digital short stories I produced last year was showcased at Crossroads Film Festival. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuEvPKX8748

Hey, I'm in 11th grade at Callaway High School. What I'm most interested in with robotics is getting more into computer programing. Additionally, I'm proud to have designed our team T-shirts. Outside of robots, I love reading (my favorite genre is mystery). I'm also very interested in video game platforms and comic books. Check out my digital story about Comicon here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhNX234fKBU. At school, I play a 5-drum, multi-tenor instrument called a "quint" in the high school marching band.

Hello, I'm in 10th grade at Callaway High School. Being part of robotics has given me the opportunity to be part of a real team, and I love the spirit of gracious professionalism shown by everybody at FIRST Tech Challenge. Outside of robotics, I've been able to work on videos in the Spark-O-Matic program. I'm very proud of the documentary we did that tells the story of where the spirit of civil rights leader Medgar Evers lives today—at Medgar Evers Library. You can see the video here: https://vimeo.com/245750699

I'm a 12th grade student at Calloway. I really like the teamwork aspect and building the robot. I've learned that it takes passion, dedication and hard work to be a team member. Outside of robotics, I love dogs (we have two pit bulls, Max and Blue at home). I also enjoy drawing human figures and comic book characters with pen and paper. You can see some of my artwork here: https://sparkomaticsite.wordpress.com/2016/11/29/turning-drawings-into-digital-comics-with-destini-danthony-and-the-gang/
